Things to do and places to stay around Grimsay and further afield
Here are some helpful links to some of our local businesses
Otter's Edge
A fantastic family run campsite right on the beach in Liniclate, Benbecula. Ideally situated right in the middle of our island chain.
Ceann na h-Àirigh
Grimsay's community centre, Ceann na h-Àirigh, is home to a post office, Scandi Bakery cafe, heritage centre, weekly produce markets in the summer, local educational and social events, and the Grimsay Boat Haven.
Namara Seafood Cafe
Enjoy freshly landed seafood from Kallin's fishing boats. The crew of Lady Anne can often be found waiting for a scallop roll outside.
Uist Wool
Natural undyed yarn and beautiful wool products made from rare and local breeds of sheep on heritage milling machines. A must visit.
Coralbox
A small, independent gift shop in Berneray. A treasure trove of nautical and island themed items.
Hebridean Candles
A small, family business here in Grimsay. Robyn makes and sells a range of candles, melts and gifts inspired by the Hebridean Islands using Natural and renewable materials.
Scandi Bakery
Located at Ceann na h'Àirigh, a local bakery inspired by Scandinavian traditions and flavours. Serving lunch, cakes, and the best coffee on the island (in our opinion).
Namara Hebridean Catch
Delicious fresh and smoked local shellfish and seafood landed here at Kallin, as well as gourmet seasonings and dried goods. We highly recommend stocking up on the ingredients for a fantastic meal cooked at home.
Uist Forest Retreat
One of the most magical places to stay, in Uist or anywhere. Luxuriously appointed wood cabins high up on a forested hill, overlooking the tidal island of Valley.
Grimsay Boat Museum
A brand new museum dedicated to the history and craft of our unique Grimsay fishing boats. A fascinating and free cultural highlight, with plenty of space and interactive displays for families. An ideal rainy day activity.
Western Isles Wildlife
Organised and experienced wildlife tours of the Hebrides and elsewhere with Steve Duffield. Steve is a fantastic wildlife guide and will tailor a tour to the species on your bucket list.
Langass Lodge
Set on the edge of Loch Eport and overlooking Ben Eaval, this former shooting lodge in North Uist is a comfortable and beautifully updated small hotel with great food and a wonderful atmostphere.
